This post will provide information on both writing your product descriptions and setting up a basic module to display your recent sales on your store. If you've got everything set up so far, congratulations, you're nearly finished with setting up your basic store!

Why Should People Buy Your Products?

You should take a minute to think about what makes you buy a product? What information do you typically look for? Think about the last thing you bought, even if it's something from the grocery store, did you read the package before deciding to buy it? Chances are, you did. This is exactly what your customers will be doing when they visit your store and debate about whether they want to purchase that rank - you need to tell them what they receive and tell them how good it is.

We've got a post with guidance and an example on how to write your product descriptions to maximise the chance that your customers are going to purchase. We really recommend that you take a few minutes to read this through so you can get started off in the right way! Read this post here.

Recent Payments Module

We have several sidebar module options available on Tebex, but one of the most popular is the Recent Payments module. Many customers love seeing their character or Steam avatar listed on the site, it may seem like a small thing but we know it really is a popular module. Customers get excited about being displayed for supporting your project, so let's take a moment to look at this module now. Head to Webstore > Sidebar and click 'Setup Your First Module', you'll see a selection available, and we want to select 'Recent Payments'.

This module only has a few options, so it's very easy to manage, normally you'll set it up once and just leave it active without touching it again. You can change the name of the module and select how many recent payments you want to display. We think 5 is a good number, so we'd recommend sticking with that.

Some customers don't like the amount they spend to be public on the store, or the products they've bought, equally, many do like it! You can decide if you want to display the product, price, or timestamp of the purchase. You can also decide if you want to display free payments. If you want this to stay on your store permanently, just check that the 'End Time' field is ticked to 'Never'. And there you have it!

There are of course other modules, as you will have seen, such as the community goal, which is also a great module for smaller communities just starting out. For now, this tutorial will only touch on the recent payments module.

Recap

If you have done the steps in this tutorial, you will have connected your server to Tebex, understand how to change the design of your store, written up your commands, and understand how to write your product descriptions and set up a sidebar module. The last thing we'll explain is how to receive your payments, and we'll do that in the last tutorial.

You now have a fully functional basic store! There are many other features available though, and if you're ready to launch your project, you might want to consider launching with a sale. We have some guidance on sales and coupons, and we also have a great tutorial by Ted on how to get these set up, watch below:
