This post is going to discuss how you can provide the most informative description so you can inform your customers exactly what they will receive. Follow this guide to make the most of showcasing your products on your store.

Why Product Descriptions Matter

Let's dispel some myths. Creating product descriptions does not need to be complicated, or involve writing a long essay to get your information across. Product descriptions need to tell your customer some key information that helps them understand what they are purchasing and why they should be purchasing it.

Let's watch this short video that gives a summary of how to write a good product description:

Video by Mr Sam Baldwin

In this video, you will see that addressing some key points such as who the product is aimed at, what the customer is looking for, and how your product can solve their problem are all very important. Let's translate this into UGC (user-generated content = server ownership, mod making etc).

Ingame Product Descriptions

If you are selling an in-game product your description should include:

What benefits does this product give the customer? Eg, does buying this product give the customer a rank ingame? Does it also give them a Discord rank or a forum rank? What items are included with the rank?
Important information: Such as the product lasts for 30 days, or 5 single uses, that the product cannot be sold ingame, and cannot be traded. That the product is a recurring subscription, or if the customer needs bag space, is the product lost upon death?
Who is this for? What kind of customer do you want to attract to this product? Are you aiming this product at new players on your server? Is this for veterans who have invested more hours into your community?
An image. It can be something as simple as a graphic with the rank name, a chest filled with coins, or a car. Make your product look interesting with pictures of what the customer is buying!

Things To Avoid

We've definitely seen many bad product descriptions in our time and they come in many shapes and forms. From simply saying "give me money" to a completely blank page, with no picture and just a title, we've seen it all. Having a product page like this will almost certainly have our compliance team in contact with you. Your products should always provide information about what the customer is buying, what they receive, how they receive it, and how long delivery will take.

An Example Of A Good Description

Here's an example of an informative description that gives everything the customer needs. Take a look and see if it gives all the information needed:

VIP RANK - 30 DAYS - $7.99 per month

Support our community in style with this introductory VIP rank. For just $7.99, you will get access to all of this:

VIP tag ingame,
VIP Discord role and access to private VIP channels,
VIP forum role,
2500 x ammo,
1 x Secret Map,
The VIP motorbike (only available with this rank!),
Call a helicopter to your location once per day,
1 x queue skip.

Every month you renew your subscription you will also receive:

1 x Monthly cosmetic costume. The costumes will be different each month. Collect them all!
3 x Mini-boss summons per month. (This is solo content). The mini-boss is changed every month.

IMPORTANT: You will receive your items a few minutes after logging in - bag space required. This rank cannot be gifted. Login with Discord is required to receive the Discord role. Need help? Make a post in the Help section of the forums if you have a problem with your purchase.

In the example above, we aimed the VIP rank at newer players, it's not too expensive and is a good introductory package for someone looking to contribute to your community. The description also lets the customer know what they will receive, how and when it will be delivered and also lets them know that if they keep their subscription active they will receive additional rewards for supporting you, which also adds another reason to purchase. A contact option is also added so your customers can trust that you will help them if they have a problem, this is important for customers to know!

Script/Plugin Products

If you are a developer selling your scripts/maps/mods/addons etc on Tebex, then it's very important that you also:

Include the server or game version required for your product. Be specific. If your product only works with certain server versions and not others, you MUST display this on your product page so your customers can make an informed decision. Here's an example:

Mobile Phone Mini-Game Script - $25
Thanks for looking at my script. I'm a small indie developer who makes some scripts for fun!

Watch the YouTube video to see script in action here.

Only suitable for ESX v1.2. Other server versions are NOT compatible with the script and will not work.

This product uses the Cfx Asset system. After purchase, you will be granted access (in your Keymaster) to use the product on your server. Simply install the file in your server and restart. Mini-games will be immediately available on the mobile phone.

If you have problems with your script please join my Discord or email me here. Support times can be up to 1 day, but I will try to respond ASAP 🙂

That script example provides information about what the product does (new mini-games for the ingame mobile phone), which server it's suitable for (type of customer), and explains the delivery and install process. There is also a contact option that reassures your customers you're around to help.

Both examples above provide information that can help in a payment dispute. If your customer buys the script and then discovers it doesn't work due to their server version, you are able to show that the product listing clearly shows it is only compatible with ESX 1.2 and that you are not in the wrong. This can help protect you and help win payment disputes!

Looking At Your Own Product Descriptions

Now that we've shown what a good description should look like, how does this compare to your own? Can you see some things you might need to add to your product pages?
