This post will guide and help connect your cross-platform Minecraft server to Tebex. At the end of this tutorial, you should have a connected server that Java and Bedrock players can enjoy!

Why Cross-Platform Servers Are Great

Not every player owns a Java copy or Bedrock, and friends might want to play together that own different versions. If player Notch owns a copy of Java, and player Jeb owns a copy of Bedrock, and they want to play together they won't be able to if the server isn't cross-platform and using a system such as GeyserMC.

By using a cross-platform server, you're allowing a much wider pool of players to join and play in your community. Players will be able to bring their friends and they won't have to worry about which version of Minecraft they own, because the server will accept it.

With more players joining your community, your server will grow further and you will be able to take your server to new places and take advantage of new opportunities.

Installation

Our tutorial video is based on self-hosting a server, instead of using a server host. If you're planning to use a server host then the instructions will be different and you should contact the server host for assistance if you are struggling on installing a cross-platform server.

You may also find the Geyser wiki helpful when you are configuring your server.

Setting Up Your Store

Tebex supports cross-platform Minecraft stores, but you need to make sure you have selected the 'Minecraft Offline/Geyser' store option. We may not be able to assist you if you selected the incorrect store type, but you should email us at support@tebex.io and we'll see if we can convert your store - please note, there are pre-requisites, such as being an active store already taking payments.

You should also work through our basics guide that provides you with some essential tips if you're still new to Tebex.

For your package command variables, you should use {username}. Using {uuid} isn't recommended due to the cross-platform nature of the store, and players may not have a UUID on record.

Events And Activities For Your Server

You can be incredibly creative with your server as there are thousands of plugins and you're only limited by how creative you are. Here are a few ideas of how you can add events to your server:

  • Ingame Weekly Events - Your players want something to do when playing on your server. You should look at scheduling regular events for your players to participate in. What about time-trialled parkour competitions? Build competitions? Spleef? Fishing events? There's a lot you can organise on a regular basis so your players always have something to participate in.
  • Minigames - Use various plugins to set up minigames such as Bedwars, and other fun short games that your players can take part in. Perfect when players only have a short time to play and want to do a quick activity.
  • Add quests - Let your players get involved in the story of your server by adding detailed quests for them to work through. Add good storylines and your players will enjoy exploring what your world has to offer.

Our guide helps you install Geyser on your self-hosted server. If you're looking to install this on a server host we'd recommend contacting your server host for more information. You may also find our other tutorials useful, such as how to create a custom fishing event, how to set up player ranks, and how to create your server spawn.

We hope you enjoy your new cross-platform server, and if you're new to Tebex and have questions about our platform, drop our friendly support team a message at support@tebex.io and our team will be happy to help.
