Did you know that it’s our second anniversary with CFX Collective? It was May 2020 when we began gearing up for launch with FiveM pre-registration. Time has flown by for the Tebex team and we couldn’t be happier to celebrate our anniversary with CFX Collective! FiveM has become a massive part of the Tebex platform, and we’re looking forward to many more years to come working together with CFX Collective.

This post should hopefully provide you with some more information about this awesome platform, and if you already run a game server, then, perhaps this will give you some ideas for a future project.

About FiveM

If you haven’t played FiveM but you own GTA V then now is the time to load up the game and take a journey through some of the amazing servers that have worked tirelessly to create amazing content. FiveM is primarily roleplay based, and you’ll find all kinds of servers to suit your playstyle! If you want to roleplay a cowboy, police officer, or maybe a law evading citizen then the chances are you'll find a server just for you.

Some awesome servers well known in the FiveM community include RSM, GLife, Nopixel, Transport Tycoon, and many many more. Explore the built-in server list for a taste of the possibilities of user-generated content and experiences - there is sure to be something for every type of player.

CFX Collective has been developing FiveM since 2014, and their hard work truly shows with consistent updates and high player counts with players returning again and again to enjoy the creative and unique experiences made by server owners. With a consistently high online (ingame) player count, normally between 100~200k players, there is a large pool of opportunities here for the ambitious server owner looking for their next project.

There is a lot of documentation on how to get started with FiveM on the official site, and a very supportive community over on the CFX forums who will always be happy to try to help you, whatever your question.

Create a Server

If you're interested in starting out on FiveM, then have no fear, there's plenty of documentation on the official forums, where developers get together to discuss their projects and modifications. It is important to note that FiveM is not an entry-level server to run, we would recommend that you have good technical and programming knowledge to be able to create your server to a high standard.

You can head to this page for further information and everything you need to know about setting up your FiveM server. FiveM has a super simple integration with ZAP-Hosting, for the easiest and most convenient set-up possible.

Did you also know that FiveM servers are listed on the official FiveM launcher? This is fantastic! If you're coming from another game community such as Minecraft for example (where this doesn't really exist), this means that there is passive server advertising, so players will be trickling in to explore your server through finding it in the launcher. In addition, there is a built-in boosting option to push your server higher up in the listings, no more need to pay a server listing site for your server slot advert - Cfx do it all for you.

Have a Concept

If you decide you want to create a server, one of the first things you need to do is decide what your concept is. Decide what you want your server to be. Are you going to be a roleplay server? An economy server, where the goal is to be as rich as possible?

Open a Word doc, or simple pen and paper, and write down what your server is going to be, and then, write down a few goals for your server in the first 6 months and then make sure you stick to it. Deciding early on what your focus will be and then structuring all of your goals around that will give you and your server team a sense of direction.

Modifications and Scripts

There is a very active modding community with FiveM with some really ingenious ideas! There seems to be a mod for everything, and mods for things you didn't even know you needed! With that said, bear in mind that as FiveM servers are heavily custom coded that using a third-party script isn't guaranteed to be compatible with your set-up, so always do your research before you decide to invest in a paid script. You can truly customise your server however you want with scripts, and they will be an important tool for making your server a unique and creative environment that players will enjoy experiencing.

Beware - Use a Staging Server!

A pitfall that we see many servers fall into is trying to customise and install untested third-party scripts on their live server, this can be a nightmare! A staging server is essentially a spare server that you use for all of your testing, so your players can happily play on your live server with no impact to gameplay should anything go wrong due to any changes you make on your staging server. Don't forget that if your players experience problems during gameplay that this can impact whether they decide to stick around, and indeed, whether they decide to purchase a product to support your server, so it's also best to limit the ways in which disruption can happen!

It's good practice to have a staging server that you can use for all of your customisation, optimisation and scripting testing. If you are just starting out with running a server, then you may not have the capital to be able to afford a staging server in addition to your live server, but we do heartily recommend you consider using one when you can.

What About Selling Scripts?

You can indeed sell FiveM scripts on Tebex. You don't need to run a game server to use our platform to sell FiveM scripts - but you do need to make sure that you are selecting the FiveM store type when you create your store. Make sure your scripts are following the CFX rules to prevent any issues later on.

Conclusion

This has been a very brief glimpse into the world of FiveM. Whether you want to play FiveM, run a server, or create and sell FiveM scripts, there's something for everyone. There are new FiveM servers starting up all the time, and a very healthy and consistent player count, with new and exciting events taking place in the world of FiveM all the time. If you're looking to try something new, why not load up the game tonight and explore some of the amazing servers on the FiveM launcher. Or, if you are feeling more adventurous, why not take a look through FiveM's getting started page (click here) for info on running your very own server.

Lastly, here's to our two-year anniversary with CFX Collective, may there be many more to come.

If you are a game publisher or platform and you'd like to discuss a partnership, we'd be interested to hear from you. Send us an email at support@tebex.io with details of your project and one of our team will get back to you.
