Minecraft News

The upcoming "Caves & Cliffs" update is being split into two seperate chunks. One half is set to be released in the Summer of 2021 this year and the other half is set to be released around Winter 2021 for the holiday season.

Java Edition / Minecraft Snapshot 21w18a

The latest Snapshot for Minecraft bring in some new changes and a ton of bug fixes as well as a Java upgrade!

Starting with this snapshot, Candles, Bundles, and Sculk Sensors are only accessible through commands. Mojang does not feel that they are at the quality we want for Part 1 of the Caves & Cliffs release. To keep trying these features out in survival mode, use the Preview data pack!

Changes in 21w19a

  • The maximum length of item names in the anvil UI has been increased from 35 to 50
  • Made geodes significantly rarer
  • Unfinished items (Sculk Sensor, Bundles, and Candles) have been removed from the creative inventory
  • Recipes for unfinished items (Bundles, Candles) have been removed

Changes to the Caves & Cliffs Preview

Download the updated datapack.

  • The pack now includes recipes related to bundles and candles

Minecraft now uses a more recent version of Java, which is now Java 16! If you are using a default setup the Launcher will download and install the correct version. If you are using a custom Java setup or a third-party launcher, you will need to ensure that your Java installation is version 16 or above.

Snapshots are available for Minecraft: Java Edition. To install the snapshot, open up the Minecraft Launcher and enable snapshots in the "Installations" tab.

Snapshots can corrupt your world, so please backup and/or run them in a different folder from your main worlds.

Minecraft Earth Is Coming To An End

For those of you who have been enjoying Minecraft Earth or have been following it's development, we are sorry to report that support for Minecraft Earth will be ending in June 2021. Mojang stated that "Minecraft Earh was originally designed around free movement and collaborative play, two things that have become near impossible in the current global situation. As a result we (Mojang) have made the difficult decision to re-allocate our resources to other areas that provide value to the Minecraft community".

That said, Mojang have one update left for Minecraft Earth. On the 1st May 2021 they released a final build of the game with some changes to make the game as fun as possible in its last moments.

Here are the changes:
· Removing real-money transactions

· Drastically reducing ruby costs

· Including all completed, unreleased content currently in our pipeline

· Reducing time requirements for crafting and smelting

· Replacing unused crafting & smelting boosts with radius boosts of the same level

· Granting a set of Character Creator items to players who sign in between January 5 and June 30

If you have not played Minecraft Earth before you can still pick it up from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to take part in this final update.

Support for Minecraft Earth will end on june 30th 2021. All content and service support for the game will be discontinued. This means that after this date you will be unable to download or play Minecraft Earth anymore. On July 1, Mojang will delete any Minecraft Earth player data unrelated to Character Creator and Minecoin entitlements. For more information on the Minecraft Earth sunset process, you can check out the FAQ page.

RUST News

RUST World Revamp

This month's RUST update brings a complete overhaul to it's graphics including changes to monuments and NVIDIA Relex support for reduced latency and the usual fixes and improvements.

RUST has recieved a huge visual update, which is the biggest to date! From new terrain, trees, rocks, cliffs, decor, grass, monument reworks and much more. Most of the new visuals were developed alongside the transition of the game to the High Definition Render Pipeline of Unity (HDRP) that FacePunch Studios subsequently dropped after unsatisfactory performance results. They didn’t want to waste the efforts made to make the game look better during that time and ported them to the current version of the game instead.

NVIDIA Reflex is now avaliable!

Reflex can be enabled via the options menu for all NVIDIA users using a GeForce GTX 900 series graphics card or newer. Enabling Reflex has shown up to 38% reduced input latency within RUST.

Improvements & Fixes Highlights

Mounted Gestures - Gesture while on horses, boats, seats, etc
Alt Look - Restored 3rd person feedback when a player is alt looking
Poker Table - Multiple poker table fixes and improvements
Bandit Camp Recycler - Due to popular demand the Bandit camp now has an extra recycler
Hitch & Trough Improvments - Doubled health recovered by horses and decay time reset after eating food
Junkyard Carlift - Public carlift can now be used at the revamped Junkyard

RUST X Dying Light DLC Colaboration

RUST has a colaboration with Dying Light with some free DLC. Please note, this promotion has now ended, but will be appearing in the middle of May on the console versions of RUST.
