There are a few new things brewing in recent Minecraft News! A new material, updates to Bedrock Beta and a new Java Snapshot!

New Material: Netherite Scrap
There is a new material making its way to Minecraft called “Netherite Scrap”.

This material will be located in the depths of The Nether. Embedded deep within the rock you will occasionally come across some Ancient Debris, this material is highly blast resistant and will even float on the lava! Make sure to bring some Diamond Pickaxes with you on your adventures as you’ll need them to successfully mine Ancient Debris.

Once you have gathered some you will be able to smelt it down into the new material known as Netherite Scrap. Using the scraps is how you obtain Netherite Ingots which will give you access to the top tier of Minecraft’s weaponry.

Ancient Debris is tricky to find, it’s found deep within The Nether as it never generates when exposed to the air. There is a chance for up to two veins of Ancient Debris to generate in each chunk. When you have successfully mined some Ancient Debris, you will need to melt it down in a furnace or blast furnace to create Netherite Scraps. You will then need to combine four scraps of this with four gold ingots in a crafting grid to acquire a single Netherite Ingot.

Yes, all of that for a single Netherite Ingot! This is the top tier of equipment which is higher than Diamond, so the payoff will be worth it!

New Minecraft Java Snapshot – 21W13A

A new Snapshot has landed for the Java edition of Minecraft. Goats have now been added! They spawn in the Mountain areas, can scale the sides of mountains by jumping high, can be tempted and bred using Wheat and are a source of milk!

A new Accessibility option has also been added. This adds an alternative solid black background colour for the Mojang Studios loading screen. There have also been many changes, tweaks and bug fixes.

Snapshots are available for Minecraft: Java Edition. To install the snapshot, open up the Minecraft Launcher and enable snapshots in the "Installations" tab.

Snapshots can corrupt your world, so please backup and/or run them in a different folder from your main worlds.

New Minecraft Bedrock Beta – 1.16.230.52

This Beta brings more features for the upcoming “Caves & Cliffs” Update!

Axolotl will now spawn underground in water areas. They can also be bred by holding a bucket of tropical fish which will cause the Axolotl to follow the player on both land and water. They cannot be tamed but they can be bred by feeding them buckets of tropical fish. They can also be picked up by using a bucket, much like fish.

Axolotl will come in a variety of different colours! There will also be an equal chance of the different colour variants spawning other than the blue variant which have a small chance of spawning when breeding 2 Axolotl. Axolotl can only survive on dry land for a few minutes, after that they will take damage so make sure to keep them in water.

There are a TON of new Deepslate Blocks that have been added in this Beta! Ore is generated as normal, when ore is generated where Deepslate has been generated, Deepslate ore is generated instead.

As always with Bedrock betas, you will need to enable the Caves and Cliffs Experimental Features Toggle to check out the features in your beta worlds (You can find out more about using the toggles at aka.ms/MCExperimentalToggle.)

PLEASE READ before participating in the Minecraft Beta:

Joining the beta will replace your game with a work in progress version of Minecraft
You will not have access to Realms and will not be able to join non-beta players while you're previewing the beta
Any worlds played while in the beta cannot be opened in previous versions of the game so please make copies of worlds to prevent losing them
Beta builds can be unstable and are not representative of final version quality

RUST News

Gestures Update
A new update titled the “Gestures Update” is now live in Rust. This update brings “Gestures” so you can now communicate visually with other players. Poker Tables have been added to the Bandit Camp Casino and fixes and improvements.

Gestures are now available to everyone in the game in a simple popup menu that can be accessed during gameplay. Pressing the B key opens this menu so you can see your gesture options. These new gestures have been built to be used in the first person perspective. This new system features looping animations and third person gestures. Gestures no longer unequip your weapon and can be cancelled at any point.

Poker Tables have been added to Bandit Town. This now completes the casino overhaul that was started last month. There are a variety of tables that support anywhere from two to six players. To play at a table, simply deposit 100 scrap to the storage at your seat to get started. Once you are in a game use the on screen prompts to play. Standard Texas Hold ‘Em rules apply.

Improvements & Fixes Highlights

Disable Blood Option - Blood can now be disabled through the options menu

Player Hitbox Bug - Fixed projectiles fired at players joints not impacting

News Menu Update - News section now displays the full blogs content

Hostile Timer Reduced - Safezone hostile timer reduced from 30 minutes to 5 minutes

Heavy Armour Riding - Players can no longer mount horses with heavy armour equipped

L96 Skinnable - L96 skins are coming this month

Team Member Mounting - Team members can now mount vehicles after purchase

Vehicles Repossessed - Vehicles are now respsessed after 5 minutes instead of 2 minutes

Revolver & SAP Recoil - Tightened up recoil response on revolver/sap including animations

Rust is coming to consoles!

Rust Console Edition will release on both Xbox One and Playstation 4.
