Tebex (originally named Buycraft) launched in 2011 as a Bukkit plugin for Minecraft Servers to monetize their game servers. Over the last 10 years, we’ve grown to support over 10 games, 13,000 game servers, and have helped creators earn over 500M USD, with 10M USD being paid out to creators in December 2021 alone. It’s an absolute honor and a privilege to support creators in getting recognition for their incredible contributions to the industry.

Today marks a brand new chapter for Tebex and a milestone worth celebrating. We’re excited to announce that Tebex has been acquired by Overwolf, the all-in-one platform that enables creators to build, share, and monetize in-game apps and mods. For many of our customers, you may already be familiar with Overwolf through their platforms Bukkit and Curseforge. Tebex and Overwolf share a commitment of identifying ways to support gaming communities who want to empower in-game creators that create content on top of their games.

The acquisition will propel Tebex forward by enabling us to scale into additional games and grow our customers' game servers. We’re starting this partnership with one major motto: when our creators succeed, so does Tebex.

“From the moment we first met the team at Overwolf it was apparent of their dedication to the UGC market and ensuring creators get paid for their hard work. Joining Overwolf enables Tebex to expand its offerings to more game servers, publishers, and more importantly, allows us to further grow the communities of our existing game servers. Their commitment to helping us grow the game server industry will push Tebex into our next growth chapter,” shared Tebex CEO, Lee McNeil.

Lee McNeil & Liam Wiltshire will remain within the management of Tebex and there will be no major changes for our existing creators and partners. Over the next few months we’ll begin to heavily invest in scaling the Tebex team, resulting in new features, better customer support, and other growth opportunities for our creators that we can’t wait to share.

Overwolf CEO, Uri Marchand, had this to say about the acquisition: “Tebex shares in our unwavering commitment of identifying ways to support gaming communities and game studios who want to empower in-game creators that create content on top of their games. As long-time champions of in-game app creators and mod authors, we are excited to work with a new creator category - server owners - to continue to build new experiences in the industry. By combining our industry-leading operations with Tebex’ technology and passionate team, we'll be able to reach more creators and help them earn a sustainable income for their work.”

We’d like to thank all of our customers and partners for your support over the last decade, and we’re truly excited for the next chapter in our history of creating a new profession in the gaming industry.
